Hyperbranched poly synthesis

Miller et al. were the first to report the synthesis of hyperbranched poly(arylene ether ketone)s.157 They used 3,5-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)phenol as the starting material, as shown in Scheme 6.20. [Pg.349]

The preferred initiator is stannous octoate in catalytic amount [95, 96] and polymerizations occur in bulk at 110°C or in toluene. The synthesis was expanded to stars with 40 and 48 arms by means of a hyperbranched poly(2,2 -bis(hydroxymethyl)propionicacid) or classical dendrimer, respectively [97],... [Pg.82]

The use of diisoprop anolamine in the synthesis of the hyperbranched poly-esteramide resins has led to defined molecules according to the predicted structures (Fig. 7) as confirmed by MALDI-TOF (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization - Time Of Flight) and ESI (Electro Spray Ionization) mass spectra... [Pg.46]

Scheme I Synthesis of hyperbranched poly(ethylene imine) (PEI) via acid catalyzed ring-opening polymerization of aziridine. Each color represents a different branching unit blue for linear units (L), black for dendritic units (D), red for terminal units (T). PEI has a degree of branching (DB) of 62-73%, the depicted structure represents only a small idealized fragment. Reproduced with permission from [91]... An examination of all papers describing the synthesis of hyperbranched poly(carbo-silanes) reveals that only two reactions have been used in the polymerization step nucleophilic substitution and hydrosilylation. [Pg.785]

In 1999, Muzafarov and coworkers published a preliminary report describing the synthesis of a hyperbranched poly(siloxane) from triethoxysilanol via a rapid, ammonia-catalyzed condensation process (Scheme 28)192. The authors acknowledged the potential difficulties of this process (e.g. head-head condensation leading to crosslinked products) but presented 29Si NMR data to support their conclusion that hyperbranched polymer was formed. The fact that no gel formation was observed also suggested that the polymerization proceeded as expected. The polymer, a transparent, yellow liquid, was characterized with NMR and IR spectroscopy, and GPC. [Pg.797]

Hi) Non-covalent approaches to gold glyconanoparticles. Other protocols have been reported for the synthesis of GNPs in which the carbohydrates are non-covalently attached to the metal eluster. Saceharide-modified hyperbranched poly(ethylenimines) were used to elaborate eopper, silver, gold, and platinum nanoparticles. 12-a-C-Ribofuranosyl and ribopyranosyl dodecanoic acids were heated with silver nitrate in dilute alkaline solution to afford water-soluble 15 nm silver GNPs. ... [Pg.237]

Smeets and co-workers reported the synthesis of amphiphilic HBP from the copolymerisation of a vinyl and divinyl monomers [11]. Grafting of HBP has also been reported by other researchers [12]. Hou and Yan reported the synthesis of a star-shaped copolymer using in situ grafting, which contained a hyperbranched poly(3-methyl-3-oxetanemethanol) core and tetrahydrofuran arms [13]. [Pg.35]
