As known, hydrothermal processes have been successfully used for conversion of organic wastes to fuels or useful materials, for example, biocrude oil, hydrogen, glucose, lactic acid, acetic acid, and amino acids [14,46,47]. Among these chemicals, acetic acid is an important chemical reagent and industrial chemical which is widely used for the production of poly(ethylene terephthalate), cellulose acetate, and poly(vinyl acetate). 4 Hydrothermal Renovation of LiCoO in Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs) [Pg.417]

It is reported that LiCo02 can be renovated by the hydrothermal reaction [51]. In the hydrothermal process for LiCoO renovation [52], the spent LiCoO electrodes were located in a small polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) vessel. And the small PTFE vessel was immersed in LiOH solution. The lid of the small PTFE vessel has a lot of holes 1 mm in diameter in order to make the possible exchange of the inside and outside solutions. After experiment, the renovated LiCoO was assembled into button battery for electrochemical performance test. Charge capacity in the first cycle was 134.2 mAh/g, and the discharge capacity was 133.5 mAh/g. The first-time charge and discharge efficiency was 99.5%. The renovated LiCoO exhibited the discharge capacity maintained 98.4% after 40 cycles, the discharge capacity was still 132.9 mAh/g. [Pg.418]
