Modern SM boilers are widely used for hydronic heating, LP steam applications, and some HP processes. They are available in forced-draft gas, oil, and combination fuel modes, typically producing up to 1,200 hp (41,400 lb/hr). U.S. manufacturers today build to a 5 sq ft of heating surface per hp standard (6,700 Btu/hr/sq ft). [Pg.32]

Cast iron (Cl) boilers are manufactured in sections and assembled at the job site, which makes them suitable for applications where access is limited. Like SM and FB boilers, Cl boilers are also widely used in hydronic heating systems. [Pg.33]

Hot water generators are the simplest systems overall, although many larger institutional and commercial hydronic heating plants contain fairly complex distribution systems that may include high and low flow rate subsystems and primary and secondary piping schemes in either series or parallel configurations. [Pg.67]

NOTE The minimum regulatory BD requirement for steam-raising land boilers (stationary or trailer-mounted) is usually for a once-per-day opening of the bottom valve. Hot water heating boilers and LP steam boilers employed for hydronic system duty are almost never blown down daily, but should be blown down regularly, albeit usually for the minimum period necessary to ensure the continued safe operation of the bottom BD valve. [Pg.75]

Flash steam and heat recovery systems are almost never fitted into hydronic heating and LP steam boilers because of the very limited discharge of boiler water as blowdown. A schematic drawing of an FSHR system is shown in Figure 3.2. [Pg.94]

At its simplest, a HW heating cycle is the circulation of HW from a boiler (or heat pump or similar device) through a supply and distribution piping system to various appliances and then back to the boiler. Hot water systems are hydronic systems and, when of any size, are designed to operate via various primary and secondary circuits. These circuits are provided with their own circulating pumps of different capacities to provide proper layout flow, usually to perimeter-wall m-tube convectors, fan coil units, or other space heating equipment. [Pg.132]

In heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system designs, the hydronic heating systems also may incorporate cooling or chilled water circuits, laid out as two-pipe or four-pipe systems. These terms typically refer to ... [Pg.133]

We also observe other effects of translational energy in methane which are similar to those found in hydrogen. There is an abstraction reaction for parent ions which also produces a hydronated methane. In studying the reaction... [Pg.131]

Cations formed by hydronation of an OH group or at the hemiacetal ring oxygen are denoted by the suffix -0-ium , with numerical locant. [Pg.130]

Many substituted Q/QH2 systems can also be used, e.g., the tetrachloroquin-hydrone electrode in a non-aqueous medium31. [Pg.60]

Measures SH and SI are hydronic water loop systems with water-to-air heat pumps. These systems also offer energy savings over the base case, but have an incremental cost over the base case. Other than the system type, these measures are the same as SE and SF, so either payback period is immediate for similar reasons. [Pg.110]

Commercially available water-to-water heat pumps under 10 tons capacity range that can be employed in this application include FHP manufacturing Co., Waterfurnace, ClimateMaster, Hydron Module LLC, Addison Products Co., and Trane. [Pg.124]
