Somewhat along the same lines is the measurement of the volume of hydrogen generated as corrosion proceeds . This technique has been used not only in theoretical studies, but as a means of comparing some corrosion-resisting characteristics of different lots of steel which seem to affect their behaviour when used as a base metal for tin cans ". ... [Pg.991]

It is well estabhshed that sulfur compounds as well as elemental sulfur have the tendency to form long chain molecules. All of these substances can be regarded as derivatives of the hydrogen polysulfanes (or polysulfanes) H2S . Polysulfanes form a long series of homologous chain-like molecules since the number n can assume any value. S-S and S-H bonds are frequently found in chemical and biological systems. Thus, polysulfanes have been the subject of numerous experimental and theoretical studies (for a recent review, see [15]). [Pg.7]

This volume reviews experimental and theoretical studies that have been performed primarily during the last decade on the effects of hydrogen in both crystalline and amorphous semiconductors. The authors of the individual chapters were encouraged to adopt a tutorial format in order to make the volume as useful as possible, both to graduate students and to scientists from other disciplines, as well as to the active participants in this exciting arena of semiconductor research. We anticipate that this volume will prove to be an important and timely contribution to the semiconductor literature. [Pg.14]
