Hydrogen sulfide primary pollutant

Emissions to the atmosphere from ammonia plants include sulfur dioxide (SOj), nitrogen oxides (NOJ, carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (COj), hydrogen sulfide (HjS), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulate matter, methane, hydrogen cyanide, and ammonia. Primary air pollutants such as these are almost always of concern to people only adjacent to the site or to workers involved in site remediation. One such substance that has been responsible for fatal poisonings at hazardous waste sites, usually tanks that are undergoing cleanup or donolition, is the highly toxic hydrogen sulfide gas, H2S.
