Hydrogen sequence dependent

The nucleic acids known as deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are the molecules that store genetic information. This information is carried as a sequence of bases in the polymeric molecule. Remarkably, the interpretation of this sequence depends upon simple hydrogen bonding interactions between base pairs. Hydrogen bonding is fundamental to the double helix arrangement of the DNA molecule, and the translation and transcription via ribonucleic acid (RNA) of the genetic information present in the DNA molecule. [Pg.50]

Hydrogen pressure dependencies nj7 were fit in steps 6 to 10, using the same sequence as in steps 1 to 5. Data for nn determination were at 756 K and H2 partial pressures of 827 and 2619 kPa. The activation energies Efi were fit similarly in steps 11 to 15 by using data at 1226 kPa H2 partial pressure and 727 and 794 K temperatures. This procedure completed determination of the selectivity matrix K. [Pg.230]

Let us now consider the case of hydrogenolysis of a polyfunctional molecule, i.e., containing various bonds C—N, C—O, C—Cl, etc. Such a molecule is able to react in different directions. The questions may be asked. The atomic bond of what elements will be broken first of all Of what elements after that The weaker the bond on the catalyst, the lower the temperature at which it begins to break. Hydrogen joins the valencies released during the rupture. What substances may be produced during the rupture What properties of the given molecule and catalyst does this sequence depend on ... [Pg.135]
