Hydrogen peroxide expls

Pt is attacked by bromine trifluoride at 280° in the presence of K fluoride (Ref 5). Finely divided Pt and some other metals will cause a mixt of Hj and 02 to explu at ordinary temps (Ref 1). A little Pt black dropped into a hydrogen peroxide soln can cause an expln (Ref 2). Pt and molten Ii react violently at 540° 20° (Ref 7), and an incandescent reaction occurs when it is wanned gently in gaseous oxygen difluoride (Ref 6). The decompn of 92% per-monosulfuric acid is expl in the presence of smooth or finely divided Pt (Ref 3). The re-. acting mass formed by the mixt of P and Pt can become incandescent when heated (Ref 8). Dry, used Pt catalyst has exWd while being screened (Ref 4)... [Pg.790]

Ketone Peroxides. Bjorklund and Hatcher (Ref 1) prepd several expl compds by treating ketones with hydrogen peroxide—nitric acid mixts. The probable compns of these compounds are as follows ... [Pg.541]

N 4.77% mp 68—9° expl in a flame. Criegee Dietrich (Ref 2) treated 1-ethyl cyclohexanol with 83% hydrogen peroxide and 0.2cm coned sulfuric acid for 14hrs at 0°and purified the Na salt. The peroxide and p-nitrobenzoyl chloride in abs pyridine gave the nitrobenzoate as yellow plates from etber or methanol Refs 1) Beil, not found 2) R. Criegee ... [Pg.97]

The only detailed method of prepn, by distilling a mixt of isopropyl methanesulfonate, KOH in water S hydrogen peroxide at 51° is that of Pryor (Ref 10). Its elemental analysis is dangerous. Ptyor (Ref 8) reported an accidental expl of Di(iso-propyl) -peroxide in the gas phase at ca 200° in an O stream Refs 1) Beil, not found 2) W. Rocke-muller St L Pfeuffer, Ann 537, 178(1939) St CA not found, . ... [Pg.394]

Amine Peroxides as Explosives. Some amines may yield expl peroxides. For instance, hexamethylenetetramine when treated with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an organic add(citric) which combines with the liberated Nris, forms hexamethylenetriperoxidediamineiqv) (Ref IX Schif f s bases, ammoniacal aldehydes or their... [Pg.177]

O 13.21% sulfur-yel ndls(from benz+petr eth), mp 77-8°(dec) readily sol in ale, eth, benz or chlf diffc sol in petr eth. It can be prepd by shaking benzaldehyde-p-tolylhydrazone in ligroin, or better in benz soln, with a si excess of hydrogen peroxide. This compd expl spontaneously at RT when dry. Friction or impact does not cause it to explode(Refs 1 2)... [Pg.38]
