Hurry-up-and-wait disease

Hurry-up-and-wait disease occurs because a good touch typist can easily outrace the speed with which he or she can think (Knuth, Larrabee, Roberts, 1989, p. 14) ... 

On the other hand, many business documents are neither novel nor long instead, they are fairly short and on well-worn topics. In these cases, there is little risk in direct composition on a computer. For example, memos, letters, brief reports, and similar documents might not require much handwriting. Especially when you ve written extensively about a subject, your thinking can keep up with your typing, so the hurry-up-and-wait disease is not as much of a concern. Also, for shorter documents, the amount of reordering possible is so limited as not to be a worry.
