Hot extraction wire mesh filter method

The hot extraction wire mesh filter method is similar to the hot extraction paper filter method. The only differences between the two methods are (a) the extraction pot (cylinder) can be made of glass or metal (b) the extraction container is a wire basket made of 63 pm wire cloth or a metal cylinder with 63 pm wire cloth sieving medium, to which the extraction thimble of the fibre material is placed and (c) a protective sieve is used. [Pg.443]

The extraction procedure is similar to the hot extraction paper filter method and the soluble binder content is determined as in cold extraction using the centrifuge extractor method (see Section 9.6.1.1). [Pg.443]

More information about the hot extraction wire mesh filter method is given in CEN EN 12697-1 (2012), Annex B.1.2 [Pg.443]

The extraction case and the flask (if binder recovery is required) are weighted first. Then, the test portion is placed in the extraction case and is weighted again to an accuracy of 0.05 g. [Pg.443]

The extraction case is placed in the extractor that has been filled with solvent so that most of the material in the extraction case is covered by solvent, and by switching on the heater, the extraction starts. The extraction stops when the solvent collected in the extractor becomes colourless. [Pg.443]
