Honey fungi

Some simple foods can be preservatives in their own right. Honey, salt, sugar, lactic acid, and vinegar are all examples of foods that inhibit microbial action. Some health professionals recommend consuming phytoestrogens from foods such as soybeans to achieve various health benefits. The phytoestrogens in the paraben family, found in blueberries, kill molds and fungi and are often added to food as preservatives. 

Fruiting bodies Most fungi that cause disease are so small that they go unnoticed, apart from their symptoms. Honey fungus, with its distinctive honey-colored toadstools, is an exception. 

Leaves wrinkled and discolored. Cause Aphids, These Vm - /s", pear-shaped, green, pink, black, dusty gray, or white fluffy-coated insects cluster on leaves, buds, and young stems. As they feed, they drop sticky honey-dew on lower leaves. Other symptoms, which indicate Armillaria root rot, may appear at the base of the plant. These include white mats of fungi and brownish black fungal strands on the roots or between the bark and the wood. Honey-colored mushrooms often grow around the base of dead or dying plants. Figure 10 summarizes some results of the lipid-oxidation system in basldlomycetes, leaves, fruits, vegetables, and cereals. It can be seen that there is a development with evolution and differentiation. The enzyme system is highly substrate specific to a (Z,Z)-1,4-pentadiene system converting linoleic- and linolenic acids into carbonyls and oxoacids which may undergo further isomerization (E3) and/or reduction (E4). Some of the components formed are very potent aromatics, pheromones, and wound hormones. Basidio-mycetes and Fungi produce (-)-1-octen-3-ol as their sensorial principle. 9-Oxodecanoic acid is known as queen substance and is the sex pheromone of honey bees.
