Homoallylic derivatives boron synthesis

Chiral addition of allyl metals to imines is one of the useful approaches toward the synthesis of homoallylic amines. These amines can be readily converted to a variety of biologically important molecules such as a-, / -, and y-amino acids. Itsuno and co-workers utilized the allylborane 174 derived from diisopropyl tartrate and cr-pinene for the enantioselective allylboration of imines. The corresponding iV-aluminoimines 173 are readily available from the nitriles via partial reduction using diisobutylaluminium hydride (DIBAL-H) <1999JOM103>. Recently, iV-benzyl-imines 176 have also been utilized for the asymmetric allylboration with allylpinacol boronate 177 in the presence of chiral phosphines as the chiral auxiliaries to obtain homoallylic A -benzylamines 178 in high yield and selectivity (Scheme 29) <2006JA7687>. [Pg.633]

Stevastelins are depsipeptides exhibiting immunosuppressant activity. The first total synthesis of stevastelin B was described by Y. Yamamoto and co-workers. To construct four consecutive stereocenters, the Evans aldol reaction and the Roush asymmetric allylation were utilized. In the allylation step, the authors used (S,S)-diisopropyltartrate-derived ( )-crotyl boronate. The anti homoallylic alcohol product formed as the only diastereomer. [Pg.387]

The first total synthesis of ( )-lycoridine margetine (33), a member of the non-basic alkaloids which possess antimitotic activity has been achieved (Scheme 3). The homoallylic alcohol (26) served as a latent diene in a Diels-Alder reaction with ethyl acrylate to give a diastereomeric mixture of adducts which upon base equilibration and hydrolysis provided the tmns-acid (27). Modified Curtius reaction on (27) afforded the corresponding isocyanate which was cyclized to the lactam (28) in 89% yield by a new method using boron trifluoride etherate. Compound (28) was converted into an N-acetyl derivative which upon basic hydrolysis gave the acid (29). Treatment of (29) with NBS followed by reflux in pyridine solution gave the lactone... [Pg.171]

The B-allyl-9-BBN derivatives react with carbonyl compounds to afford borinate esters, which on protonolysis using triethanolamine afford the corresponding homoallylic alcohols. Consequently, the allylboration sequence provides a synthetically useful alternative to the familiar Grignard s synthesis of these alcohols. However, the protonolysis by triethanolamine causes a problem in the isolation of homoallylic alcohol from the thick, air-sensitive, boron-containing mixture. Fortunately, treatment of pentane solution of borinate esters of 9-BBN with 1 equiv of ethanolamine results in the rapid formation of a fluffy white precipitate of ethanolamine 9-BBN adduct, which can be easily removed (Eq. 6.7) [1]. [Pg.155]
