If you talked to your boss before you left for maternity leave about working from home part-time after the baby, follow up on it when you return. Don t feel guilty about having these conversations. You ll probably be twice as productive without office politics to deal with anyway. 

The need for income is the primary reason people seek work. With retirement there is less need for income The cost of educating children has usually been met, the home mortgage has been paid off, and daily living expenses are less. When you compare your income and expenses in retirement, you may find that you no longer need to generate income. However, if your retirement is not adequately funded, working either full- or part-time may be necessary. 

An advantage of working in home care is the flexibility in hours and activities that the home care environment offers. Positions are available that range from PRN or, to as needed, to part and full time. As needed positions are often used to help cover vacations and scheduled time off or on-call activities. Part-time positions can range from 1 or 2 days per week to 4 or 5. Average hours per day are 8 or 10 depending on the home care company.

Many years ago a freshman college student got a part-time job working as a laboratory assistant. One of his first tasks was to prepare a large volume of concentrated NaOH solution. He wore safety glasses, but took no other precautions. Chemical hoods did not exist in these labs. A 2-L beaker was nearly filled with water and the appropriate amount of solid NaOH was added. The solution became very hot and fumed considerably. After cooling, the solution was dispensed. Later in the day he went home and left his clothes to be washed. The next day his mother asked What did you do yesterday I washed your shirt and pants and they came out shredded to pieces. ... 

On the contrary, technology industries lend themselves to the sort of flexible career that maity women want—in particular part-time woiking and career breaks. First, TT achievement is not a nine-to-five job. Tasks are project-based and each project can be split up into a series of discrete parcels of woik that can be done in the office or outside it. Secondly, IT-related jobs have the technical infrastracture to enable people to work from home. 

The hardest part for me is the inability to do as much as I used to. I used to be very active. I loved to drive automobiles, and could drive for hours and hours and not get tired. Between e-mail and the Internet, wireless connections, and cell phones, we can take our work with us anywhere and work any time of the day. So many people bring their work home with them and let it eat up their play time. I think it s really important to set aside time each day, or at least each week, to relax and play. ... 

Exposure to isophorone may take place where you work or in very low concentrations at home. Because it is used in some inks, paints, lacquers, and adhesives, people who work with these products may be exposed to isophorone. Isophorone has been found in the drinking water of Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and New Orleans at amounts less than 10 parts of isophorone in 1 billion parts of water (10 ppb). In one instance (a screen print shop), isophorone was found in amounts as high as 26 parts in 1 million parts of air (26 ppm), but the usual amounts in the workplace are much lower. At this time, isophorone has been found in at least 9 out of 1177 National Priorities List (NPL) hazardous waste sites in the United States.
