Phosphinines (91AGE547), especially those where the heteroatom is crowded by bulky groups (81LAC1139, 89OM2804, 91JMS(T)231), tend to form the rj (n)-com-plexes of the arene type. Thus, 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphosphinine with holmium vapour gives sandwich 163 (97JCS(CC)481).
