History horizon

If the most recent available measurements are at time step c, then a history horizon HAt can be defined from (tc — HAt) to tc, where At is the time step size. In order to obtain enough redundant information about the process, it is important to choose a horizon length appropriate to the dynamic of the specific system (Liebman et al., 1992). As shown in Fig. 5, only data measurements within the horizon will be reconciled during the nonlinear dynamic data reconciliation run. [Pg.170]

We now consider hyperbolic discounters with willpower and personal rules to see how they will behave when they are faced with the same choice problem. Given their consumption history, we let the actors evaluate the two alternative consumption careers consuming little now and in the future and consuming much now and in the future. Actors have a fixed time horizon N, so they will consider the present and the next (N-1) consecutive consumption events. The welfare levels associated with the different options are assumed to be the ones given in figure 5.2. We assume that the time intervals between consumption events are one time unit. We start by considering consumers immediately before the first choice has to be made, that is, at t=0. [Pg.158]

Finally, I will list those Mousterian localities or layers, the faunal lists of which were given in Mottl (1941) and Vertes (1965), that contain mainly previously identified and sometimes mixed material, often without numbers of specimens. These include part of the brown layer of the Kiskevely cave, the layers c and e of the Szelim cave ( c , the hyaena horizon of Gaal was archaeologically sterile) which I reviewed in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum. [Pg.141]

This account of the literature in the area of paramagnetic cyanide compounds is intended to inform the readers of the breadth of the field and the exciting possibilities that still exist. The 300-year old history of PB and the plethora of publications in the field of cyanide chemistry that have appeared over the past 50-60 years notwithstanding, there are many new horizons in the field that remain to be explored. In this section, we highlight some of the key challenges as they pertain to molecular magnetism. [Pg.288]
