Hippuric acid benzoyl glycine

SULPHONATION OF AROMATIC AMINES If aniline is treated with excess of concentrated sulphuric acid and the resulting mixture, which contains aniline sulphate, is heated at 180° until a test portion when mixed with sodium hydroxide solution no longer liberates aniline, p-aminobenzenesulphonic acid or sulphanilic acid is formed this separates as the dihydrate upon pouring the cooled mixture into water. The reaction probably proceeds as follows  [Pg.585]

Hippuric acid Glycine, N-benzoyl- Maleic anhydride 2,5-Furandione... [Pg.46]

Hippuric acid, (CeHs—CO)—NH—CH2—COOH, Benzoyl glycine,... [Pg.388]

Hippuric Acid.—When the benzoyl group is introduced into an amino acid in place of an amino hydrogen, by means of the Schotten-Baumann reaction, a benzoyl amino acid is obtained. With amino acetic acid or glycine (p. 388) the product is benzoyl amino acetic acid or benzoyl glycine, also known as hippuric acid. [Pg.686]

Thus both by its synthesis and by its hydrolytic products hippuric acid is proven to be benzoyl glycine. [Pg.686]

Benzoyl peroxide, the active ingredient in some shampoos for dogs, is almost completely metabolized to benzoic acid in the epidermis. Benzoic acid undergoes conjugation with glycine, primarily in the liver, and is excreted in urine as hippuric acid. Methylation of norepinephrine to epinephrine, an A-transferase-mediated conjugation reaction, in human and animal skin preparations has been reported. ... [Pg.3970]

Benzoyl glycine (hippuric acid) [495-69-2] M 179.2, m 188 , pK 3.59. Crystd from boiling H2O. Dried over P2O5. [Pg.125]

Glycine can be reduced to acetate and ammonia by the selenium-dependent clostridial glycine reductase system (Eq. 15-61). A variety of additional products can be formed from glycine as is indicated in Fig. 24-20. Hippuric acid (Box 10-A), the usual urinary excretion product in the "detoxication" of benzoic acid, is formed via benzoyl-CoA (Eq. 24-43) ... [Pg.465]

Sodium benzoate and benzoic acid are food preservatives. Benzoate is metabolized by conjugation with glycine. The metabolite is A-benzoyl glycine, or hippuric acid, which is more water soluble than benzoate itself. [Pg.463]

By the action of benzoyl chloride upon the silver salt of glycine, Curtius, in i88i, obtained in addition to the expected hippuric acid... [Pg.24]
