High-speed machine

Viscosity Glassifications. The general ISO iatemational viscosity classification system for iadustrial oils is given ia Table 4 from ASTM D2422 (American National Standard Z11.232). For high speed machines, ISO viscosity-grade 32 turbiae and hydrauHc oils are a common choice. ISO grades 68 and 100 are appHed for more load capacity ia slower speed machines where power loss and temperature rise are less of a question. 

High speed machines such as impact mills begin to suffer high wear rates when processing materials above Mohs s hardness 3, unless very special wear-resisting measures can be taken. 

Abrasiveness. This property is closely related to hardness in homogenous materials, but can be affected by particle shape, eg, the presence of sharp corners. In many cases a small proportion, as low as 0.5%, of a hard impurity is enough to cause severe wear to many high speed machines. 

Sometimes cemented carbide tools are used not only for hardness and wear resistance but also for high modulus or stiffness. Similarly, high-speed machines loo have more coils per slot, subjecting the interturn insulation to higher stresses.

Step 4 Transfer. Paper is passed between the drum and the transfer corona, which has a polarity that is the opposite of the charge on the toner. The toner image is transferred by a combination of pressure and electrostatic attraction from the drum to the paper. On many color and high-speed machines, it is common to replace the transfer corona with one or more charged bias transfer rollers (BTRs), which apply greater pressure and a higher quality image.

The most cost-effective way to produce a high polytropic head is to increase the number of wheels on the rotor. But the longer the rotating assembly, the more difficult it is to properly balance the rotor. Especially for high-speed machines, rotors which become unbalanced are subject to destructive vibration. Therefore, for low-molecular-weight gas services (less than 10), it is not uncommon to use reciprocating compressors. 

Since n is less than unity, the apparent viscosity decreases with the deformation rate. Examples of such materials are some polymeric solutions or melts such as rubbers, cellulose acetate and napalm suspensions such as paints, mayonnaise, paper pulp, or detergent slurries and dilute suspensions of inert solids. Pseudoplastic properties of wallpaper paste account for good spreading and adhesion, and those of printing inks prevent their running at low speeds yet allow them to spread easily in high speed machines.
