High-performance silicone gel

High-Performance Silicone Gel as Integrated-Circuit-Device Chip Protection... [Pg.217]

High performance silicone gels have been shown to have excellent electrical characteristics. With their superior jelly-like (near zero modulus) intrinsically soft, physical property and ultra-high chemical purity, silicone gels are becoming very attractive encapsulants. They are chosen to... [Pg.225]

While the basic chemistry and physical behavior of linear polysiloxane polymers is well studied and, generally speaking, well understood, simple unmodified polysiloxanes are rarely encountered in real world applications. The majority of commercial silicone products are complex multicomponent formulations which take the form of elastomeric rubbers, adhesives, sealants, coatings, fluids or gels. Silicone elastomers are chemically crosslinked networks of linear polysiloxanes which exhibit poor mechanical properties in their native, unmodified state [1]. In order to obtain the desired combinations of mechanical, physical and chemical properties for a specific application, commercial high-performance silicone elastomers... [Pg.191]

In the second procedure, calcium nitrate was replaced by calcium alkoxide (60). Calcium and silicon alkoxides have very different rates of hydrolysis. To avoid the production of inhomogeneities, a slow and controlled hydrolysis of a mixture of silicon, calcium, and phosphorous alkoxide was performed. The resulting materials were highly homogenous, and monolithic pieces could be produced. The bioactivity of the gel-derived materials is equivalent or greater than melt-derived glasses. [Pg.260]
