High-density polyethylene-alumina composites

High-Density Polyethylene (HDDE)-Alumina Composites... [Pg.209]

Dao-Long et al. [9] reported that the mechanical properties of these composites are improved significantly over these of nnreinforced high-density polyethylene. Also, increasing the alumina content improves the thermal conductivity of the polymer. [Pg.209]

The continuing interest in changing the combustion characteristics of composites has focused attention on ATH (alumina trihydrate) filled high density polyethylene. Attempts to incorporate high loadings of ATH into HDPE normally leads to processing difficulties and degradation of composite properties. [Pg.544]

The systems described earlier, used a hybrid steel fibre system, consisting of meso and macrofibres. Systems in which the smaller fibre in the hybrid reinforcement was a microfibre were reported in several studies [116-118]. The microfibres were in most cases of a different composition than the macrofibre (usually steel). The microfibres evaluated were alumina [116], carbon [116,117], PVA [117,118], ultra high density polyethylene [117,118] and steel [117]. The characteristics of such fibres are presented in Table 12,7,... [Pg.510]
