The entire CRT industry is based on the quality and reproducibility of the phosphors used. As stated earlier the phosphors used for the different kinds of CRT displays are constantly being researched and improved. High-definition television (HDTV) A system that provides significantly improved picture quality with more visible detail, a wide screen format (16 9 aspect ratio), and may be accompanied by digital surround-sound capability. 

High level A range of allowed picture parameters defined by the MPEG-2 video coding specification that corresponds to high-definition television. 

A more recent application for formulations containing tiie aqueous developed conductors is the production of displays such as plasma high-definition television panels. The line resolution and placement accuracy of the photocurable pastes in this application can be used to generate more pixels per square xmit of panel, resulting in improved picture quality. 

The brothers Jacques and Pierre Curie are credited with the discovery of piezoelectricity in a number of hemiedric crystals (Curie and Curie, 1880). Today, piezoelectrics are utiUzed in acousto-electronic devices and sensors based on bulk and surface acoustic waves, piezomechanical sensors to monitor pressure, power, and acceleration, as actuators for micropositioning devices, band pass filters with low insertion losses, as electro-optic devices for optical memories, displays for high-definition televisions, and possibly as transparent piezoelectric speaker membranes as well as miniaturized piezoelectric transformers and motors. As the classic piezoelectric material is a-quartz, the basic relationships are detailed below using it as a model structure. Further details on the piezoelectric properties of quartz, and of its history, discovery and utilization, are available elsewhere (Ballato, 2009).
