The glucose and mannose concentrations were determined by HPAEC as described before. The ethanol concentration was measured using an HP 5890 gas chromatograph (Hewlett-Packard, Palo Alto, CA) equipped with a BP-20 column with a film thickness of 1.0 pm (SGE, Austin, TX) and a flame ionization detector. The temperature was maintained at 30°C for 5 min followed by heating to 180°C with a heating rate of 15°C/min. Acetonitrile was used as internal standard. [Pg.532]
