More radically, it can be argued that chemists recognized before most physicists the conventional character of the basic definitions and premises of scientific explanation systems, an argument usually identified in physics with Heinrich Hertz, Henri Poincare, and Edouard LeRoy at the end of the nineteenth century. And finally, chemists recognized early on that multiple explanations are superior to a simple but wrong explanation. In short, chemistry had a principle of complementarity long before physics did. 

The plural form of a symbol is the same as the singular. Plurals of unit names are formed by adding an "s", except in henries hertz, lux, and siemens are not changed. 

Henry s law The solubility of a gas in a liquid is proportional to its partial pressure above the liquid solubility X partial pressure. hertz (Hz) The SI unit of frequency 1 Hz is one complete cycle per second 1 Hz = l s 1. 

Another author, this time one who was literally pataphysical or rampantly pseudo scientific, and who was stated to have been favored by Duchamp at this crucial moment in his development, was Alfred-Henri Jarry (1873-1907). He probably served Duchamp as a role model, that of an intellectual child prodigy of the more negative or irresponsible sort. As portrayed later in the popular press, Jarry was a model enfant terrible-, as he was described by a former classmate, Henri Hertz, jarry...

An s is added to form the plurals of unit names as illustrated in the preceding except that hertz, lux, and siemens remain unchanged and henry becomes henries. 

Exceptions bar, hertz, lux, stokes, siemens, and torr remain unchanged darcy becomes darcies henry becomes henries.
