Heptacarbonyl disulfido dimanganese I

Submitted by RICHARD D. ADAMS, O-SUNG KWON, and SHAOBIN MIAO Checked by CAMERON W. SPAHN and THOMAS B. RAUCHFUSS  [Pg.122]

Mixed-metal sulfido cluster complexes have attracted attention because of their application in catalysis. Although disulfido ligands exhibit great versatility as bridging ligands, dinuclear metal disulfides are still relatively rare. We have synthesized the new dimanganese disulfide complex, Mn2(CO)7(p-S2).  [Pg.122]

In this synthesis, a convenient procedure for the preparation of heptacarbonyl-disulfidodimanganese, Mn2(CO)7( i-S2), from the acetonitrile derivative of Mn2(CO)io and the strained cyclic thioether known as thiirane (SCH2CH2), which serves as a source of sulfur, is described. [Pg.122]

Thiirane (ethylene sulfide) can be purchased from Aldrich Chemical Company and should be vacuum distilled before use. The Mn2(CO)9(NCMe) is readily prepared by treatment of Mn2(CO)io with trimethylamine A-oxide in acetonitrile.  [Pg.122]
