O Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is a procedure used mainly to treat hematologic malignancies via high-dose chemotherapy and/or a graft-versus-tumor effect.

Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation A transplantation of hematopoietic (blood-forming) bone marrow, peripheral blood, or umbilical cord blood involving one person as a donor and another person as a recipient. 

Autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation Infusion of a patient s own hematopoietic (blood-forming) cells that rescue the recipient from otherwise dose-limiting hematopoietic toxicity of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
