This berry type of fruit grows on viney plants that belong to the heath family Ericaceae, which also includes bilberries, blueberries, huckleberries, and certain nonedible plants such as azaleas, heathers, mountain laurel, and rhododendrons.

From the standpoint of physicochemical measurements, family and isothermal plots are useful for the determination of vapor pressures (and, in addition, recalling Equations 13 and 16, heats of vaporization as well) from the retention data obtained from just a few chromatographic runs (33). Furthermore, the GC technique is ideally suited to instances in which the solutes are available only in minute quantities or are substantially impure, where each of these constraints ordinarily precludes bulk vapor-pressure measurements by conventional static procedures. For example, Heath and Tumlinson (34) employed log(retention) plots to determine the vapor pressures of trace acetate ingredients used in pheromone formulations. An important aspect of their work was that family correlations were obtained with a chiral-nematic stationary phase, cholesteryl p-chlorocinnamate. 

Sex pheromones are usually emitted by females to attract males for mating. They have been reported from many moths and certain families of beetles, including Anobiidae, Bruchidae and Dermestidae, in which adults are relatively short lived and feed very little or not at all (Burkholder and Ma, 1985). Rarely, the male attracts the female, as in the cabbage looper moth (Landolt and Heath, 1990) and the arctiid moth Estigmene acrea (Willis and Birch, 1982). 

In Chapter 2, we introduced the concept of stochastic processes. Most but not all interest-rate models are essentially descriptions of the short-rate models in terms of stochastic process. Financial literature has tended to categorise models into one of up to six different types, but for our purposes we can generalise them into two types. Thus, we introduce some of the main models, according to their categorisation as equilibrium or arbitrage-free models. This chapter looks at the earlier models, including the first ever term structure model presented by Vasicek (1977). The next chapter considers what have been termed whole yield curve models, or the Heath-Jarrow-Morton family, while Chapter 5 reviews considerations in fitting the yield curve.
