Hartree-Fock approach state-dependent

The corrected Linear Response approach (cLR) consists in the use the TDDFT relaxed density and the corresponding apparent charges (7-38) into Eqs. (7-36) and (7-37) to obtain the first-order approximation to the state specific free energy of the excited state. The details of the implementation are described in Ref. [17], This corrected Linear Response computational scheme can be applied to the analogous of the Time Dependent Hartree-Fock approach either in the complete (Random Phase Approximation) or approximated (Tamm-Dancoff approximation or Cl singles, CIS) version. [Pg.197]

In the DFT, as in the Hartree-Fock approach, an effective independent-particle Hamiltonian is arrived at, and the electronic states are solved for self consistency. The many-electron wave function is still written as a Slater determinant. However, the wave functions used to construct the Slater determinant are not the one-electron wave functions of the Hartree-Fock approximation. In the DFT, these wave functions have no individual meaning. They are merely used to construct the total electron-charge density. The difference between the Hartree-Fock and DFT approaches lies in the dependence of the Hamiltonian in DFT on the exchange correlation potential, Vxc[ ](t), a functional derivative of the exchange correlation energy, Exc, that, in turn, is a functional (a function of a function) of the electron density. In DFT, the Schrodinger equation is expressed as ... [Pg.198]

The field- and time-dependent cluster operator is defined as T t, ) = nd HF) is the SCF wavefunction of the unperturbed molecule. By keeping the Hartree-Fock reference fixed in the presence of the external perturbation, a two step approach, which would introduce into the coupled cluster wavefunction an artificial pole structure form the response of the Hartree Fock orbitals, is circumvented. The quasienergy W and the time-dependent coupled cluster equations are determined by projecting the time-dependent Schrodinger equation onto the Hartree-Fock reference and onto the bra states (HF f[[exp(—T) ... [Pg.115]

An approach briefly presented here is based on a combination of the eikonal (or short wavelength) approximation for nuclei, and time-dependent Hartree-Fock states for the many-electron system, in what we have called the Eikonal/ TDHF approach.[13] A similar description can be obtained with narrow wavepackets for the nuclear motions. Several other approaches have recently been proposed for doing first principles dynamics, a very active area of current research. [39, 11, 15]... [Pg.143]

Results from a HF)1 ) approach are also shown in Table 5.1. Here HF stands for Hartree-Fock, and the label indicates that the Pss(r) and PsA(r) functions are calculated in a state-dependent Hartree-Fock potential which takes into... [Pg.207]

Density functional theory (DFT) is based on the Hohenberg-Kohn theorem, which states that there is a functional which gives the exact ground-state energy for the exact electron density. DFT models have become very popular because they are not more costly than Hartree-Fock models. The reason is that in the HF, Cl and MP models, a wavefunction for an N-electron system depends on 3N coordinates, whereas in the DFT approach, the electron density depends on only three coordinates, irrespective of the number of electrons. The problem is that the exact functional would be the Schrodinger equation itself Several approximate functionals have been developed by many authors (Becke, Parr, Perdew, and others) and different forms of the functional can yield slightly different results. Some of the most common DFT models are ... [Pg.257]
