Hard processing channel black

HPC black. Abbreviation for hard-processing channel black. [Pg.658]

Channel black is characterized by lower pFl, higher volatile content, and high surface area. It has the smallest particle size of any industrial material. A few grades of channel blacks (HPC, MPC, or EPC corresponding to hard, medium, or easy processing channel) are used in the rubber industry. [Pg.249]

The Emerman model described in the previous section is hardly applicable to the carbon black-filled CCM as the black particles have sizes of hundreds angstrom and such a composite, compared with the molding channel size, may be considered as a homogeneous viscous fluid. Therefore, the polymer structure, crystallinity and orientation play an important role for such small particles. Carbon black (CB) is indisputably the most widely used reinforcing filler in NR formulations. It improves tensile and tear strengths, modulus and hardness, abrasion and thermo-oxidative resistance, etc. of NR-based materials. CB is manufactured by a variety of processes, including the channel process, to produce furnace black, thermal black, lamp black and acetylene black.
