Hard containing cobalt

A. Spent Nickel Plating Bath (Hard Disk Manufacturer) - contains cobalt, nickel and zinc. 

The theoretical percentage of metallic iron is 48 3. Hardness 3 5 to 4 5 density 3 7 to 3 9. It is brown or grey in colour and leaves a white streak. It readily oxidises when wet, being converted into limonite. Siderite from East Pool Mine, Cornwall, has been found containing cobalt, nickel, and even indium and rubidium in small quantity.6... 

UCI in USA introduced 73-03-2 spherical catalyst containing cobalt. The catalyst is prepared via powder sintering method. The process technology and devices was complex, and it was hard to produce catalysts with small particles. The particles of the catalysts are so large that the advantages of small particles which have high activities are completely lost. 

Cemented Carbides. Cemented carbides contain mostiy tungsten carbide and lesser amounts of other hard-metal components, embedded in a matrix of cobalt (see Carbides, cemented carbides). 

Abrasive wear is encountered when hard particles, or hard projections on a counter-face, are forced against and moved relative to a surface. In aUoys such as the cobalt-base wear aUoys which contain a hard phase, the abrasion resistance generaUy increases as the volume fraction of the hard phase increases. Abrasion resistance is, however, strongly influenced by the size and shape of the hard-phase precipitates within the microstmcture, and the size and shape of the abrading species (see Abrasives). 

Of all the vitamins, vitamin B12 is unique both in the sense of its structural complexity and the presence of a cobalt atom. The cobalt-containing stracture is a highly substituted tetrapyrrole related but hardly identical to those found in myoglobin and hemoglobin. An adenosine moiety attached to cobalt creates an active coenzyme derived from the vitamin. 

A 2% beryhium mixture with copper produces a unique ahoy of bron2B that is six times stronger than copper metal. This ahoy does not give off sparks when struck with a hammer—a valuable characteristic when metals must be used in explosive gaseous envitonments. This ahoy sometimes contains smah amounts of other metals such as nickel or cobalt, which makes for excellent electrical conductivity for switching equipment, given the ahoy s simultaneous hardness and nonsparking qualities. Beryhium is also transparent to X-rays, which makes it ideal for windows for X-ray tubes. 

Contains approximately 65% nickel and 28% copper, and other elements including iron, manganese, and cobalt. Monel is very hard, strong, and resistant to corrosion. Uses include pumps, valves, and chemical industry storage and containment vessels.
