Hanau suntest

A Pyrex glass bottle of 50-mL capacity was used as batch reactor. In these flasks 40 mL of water was the total volume. Solar irradiation was simulated by a Hanau Suntest (AMI) lamp. Total radiation measurements were carried out with an YSI corporation power meter. Experiments were performed at room temperature (25°C) reaching up to 32°C during irradiation. 

The preparation of the supported catalytic Fe-clusters have been recently reported by our laboratory for Fe/Nafion membranes [1,2,3] for Fe/Nafion/glass-mats [4,5] micro-encapsulated Fe-alginate beads [6] Fe-amorphous polycrystalline thin film fused copolymers [7] and finally Fe/silica woven fabrics [8]. Experiments were conducted with Nafion perfluorinated cation transfer membrane. Photolysis experiments were carried out by means of a Hanau Suntest Lamp with tunable light intensity equipped with an IR filter to remove infrared radiation. Light... 

Under the constant intense light source of the Hanau suntest, degradation is measured using 10 uM of the candidate drug in pH 7.4 at room temperature. Under these conditions, if the compound shows a half-life of greater than 5 h, it is classified as stable. If the compound has a half-life of less than 5 min, it is classfied as very photolytically unstable. 

Each sample was then exposed to UV irradiation in a Hanau Suntest sun center (Xe arc lamp) for a controlled period of time, the process was repeated until the nitroxide signal had decayed by >20% of its original value.
