The guide block slides on the guide bar and is located in the sliding block by a spigot. 

This gives a solid location and at the same time allows the guide block to take up the angle of the guide bar. 

Full film conditions in the cam-follower contact can easily be checked by a measurement of the Ohmic resistance or the capacitance of the film. For this, the follower plate is insulated by a 5 mm. perspex layer. In addition, the follower is insulated from the test rig mass by the hydrostatic bearing, and at the load cell and the guide blocks of the follower body. 

The actual guidance, which should keep the shut-off clearance constant, is provided by guide blocks (Figure 1.93, item 4). These are located above the shut-off edge and have the task of absorbing the lateral forces that occur through the yielding phenomenon in curved parts. 

Backing plate Also called support plate, it serves to back up cavity blocks, guide pins, bushings, etc. 

A coolant channel is guided through the metal block in a serpentine fashion [15], Hence reactant and coolant flows are orthogonal. A thermocouple measures the temperature at the product outlet of the single-channel thin-film micro reactor.
