B. Di-tert-hutyl malonate. A 1-1. three-necked flask is fitted with a thermometer, a mercury- or rubber sleeve-sealed mechanical stirrer, a reflux condenser protected by a calcium chloride guard tube, and a dropping funnel (either pressure-equalized or protected by a calcium chloride guard tube). A mixture of 100 ml. (about 1 mole) of tert-butyl alcohol, dried by distillation from sodium,2 and 80 ml. (0.63 mole) of dry dimethylanilinc (Note 5) is placed in the flask, the stirrer is started, and a solu-... [Pg.11]

Remove fixing ring K23, transparent cap and rubber ring. Pull out tachometer and guide sleeve from the guard. Screw the tachometer out of the holder. The driving pin K20 can then be taken out in the same direction as the tachometer. [Pg.48]

The sleeves are of the same strong yellow brocade, covered partly with chain-armor, partly with plates of iron overlaid with brass. I he brass is oj)enwork. with a charming design of plum-blo.ssoms, the rouml elbow-guards being specially attractive. [Pg.68]

Electrical protective equipment covered by the regulation includes rubber insulating equipment, such as blankets, matting, covers, line hose, gloves, and sleeves. However, it also includes electrical protective equipment other than rubber insulating equipment. This includes plastic guard equipment, insulating barriers, and other equipment. [Pg.659]

For many workplace operations, machine guards such as point-of-operation guards will be sufficient. For example, install a barrier that makes it impossible for employees to put their hands at the point where a table saw blade makes contact with the wood it cuts. For other hazardous operations, employers may be able to institute work procedures that eliminate the risk of injury to employees hands or arms. When such measures fail to eliminate the hazard, however, protective gloves will be the primary means of protecting employees hands. When the risk of injury includes the arm, protective sleeves, often attached to the gloves, may be appropriate. [Pg.382]

Projecting shafts ends, (i) Projecting shaft ends shall present a smooth edge and end and shall not project more than one-half the diameter of the shaft unless guarded by nonrotating caps or safety sleeves. [Pg.430]

Rack material must resist the process environment. Fasteners are susceptible to failure from crevice corrosion underneath the insulating TFE sleeve. Fasteners should have provisions to guard against mechanical loosening (for example, double nutting). They may require upgrading to a more resistant material in severely corrosive environments. See Fig. 2 for photograph of corrosion test rack. [Pg.785]

Couplings shall be so constructed as to present no hazard from bolts, nuts, set screws, or revolving surfaces. They shall be covered with a safety sleeve or guarded by an enclosed guard. [Pg.128]

Gears, sprocket wheels, and chains are to be enclosed unless they are more than 7 feet above the floor, or the mesh points are guarded. Couplings with bolts, nuts, or setscrews, extending beyond the flange of the coupling are to be guarded by a safety sleeve. [Pg.393]
