Growth Procedure

Submerged-Culture Generators. Adaptation of the surface-film growth procedure for producing antibiotics to an aerated submerged-culture process has been successful in making vinegar. A mechanical system keeps the bacteria in suspension in the Hquid in the tank, in intimate contact with fine bubbles of air. The excess heat must be removed and the foam, which accumulates at the top of the tank, must be destroyed. [Pg.409]

The decomposition of methyl silane (CH3S1H3) is used to produce an amorphous SiC at 800°C and a crystalline SiC at 900°C.P 1 A two-step growth procedure produces SiC films from hexamethyldisilane and 8% H2/Ar mixture at ambient pressure and low temperature. [Pg.246]

The seeding-growth procedure is a popular technique that has been used for a century to synthesize metal particles in solution. Recent studies have successfully led to control the dimensionality of the particles where the sizes can be manipulated by varying the ratio of seed to metal salt [23-25]. The step-by-step particle enlargement is more effective than a one-step seeding method to avoid secondary nucleation [26,27]. This mechanism involves a two-step process, i.e. nucleation and then successive growth of the particles as illustrated in Scheme 1. [Pg.419]

This growth procedure introduces a bias in the conformation of the molecule which can be exactly removed by adjusting the acceptance rules (111, 113). These types of simulation are particularly well suited to chain molecules and the results we discuss in the following section are all for normal alkanes. [Pg.53]

Growth Procedures. The exact procedures for the growth of devicequality epitaxial films by LPE vary with the deposited material, the design of the growth equipment, and the structure to be fabricated. The general procedure involves preparation of the substrate, loading of the melt constituents and pretreatment of the system, and growth. [Pg.121]

Production. Recognition that the shish-kebab fibers produced by the surface-growth procedure result from the deformation of a gel-like entangled network layer at the rotor surface led to the development of gel-spun polyethylene fibers. The fiber is made by the solution spinning method. The polymer is... [Pg.479]

Pour the medium from the cell culture in step 3 of the growth procedure into the large bottles and centrifuge the cell-containing medium at 5000 X g for 10 min. Following centrifugation, decant the supernatant and discard. [Pg.152]

All investigated samples were grown by MOVPE on Al203(0001) substrates. Details of the growth procedure can be found in context with the analyzed samples in chapter 3. [Pg.101]

Three different Kl concentrations as listed above were used in the shuttle experiments. Similar control experiments were done on earth. Videotaping of the crystal growth procedure was done with a television camera and still shots were also taken at various stages throughout the crystal growth experiments In both the shuttle and the laboratory. [Pg.4]

Before this work, to obtain a smooth surface consisting of aligned (100) faces, it was necessary to grow diamond films to more than 50-pm thicknesses. In this work, however, a lateral growth of diamond was undertaken using (111 [-growth conditions in the final step, and a smooth surface was achieved. More concretely, the growth procedure used is as follows ... [Pg.159]

These accelerated growth procedures have been used by a number of groups to synthesize dendritic poly(amides),222-224 poly(esters),225 poly(ether urethanes),226 and chiral poly(ethers).227 The orthogonality of the focal and peripheral protecting groups required for double exponential growth also enables facile modification at either the periphery or focal point. Although this approach is one of the most rapid methods yet reported for the synthesis of well-... [Pg.65]
