Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis (6-8) was used also to characterize the latexes in this particle growth monitoring study. The electron micrographs were taken at a magnification of 30.000X. [Pg.273]

In-situ growth monitoring, in particular by reflective high energy electron diffraction (RHEED), has provided some fundamental information on the surface and nucleation properties of nitrides. Early RHEED studies by Hughes et al [34] and Hacke et al [49] were completed by Smith et al [50], The observed surface reconstructions for (0001) and (0001) GaN surfaces have allowed the modelling of the quasi-equilibrium surface, which has been calculated to be preferentially Ga-terminated [51], Feuillet et al [52] have followed the evolution of surface lattice constants in RHEED for the nucleation of GaN on AIN or InN on GaN (and vice versa) and extracted a wide range of information on the character of nucleation and misfit relaxation. [Pg.432]

Unlike other thin film deposition processes, conditions for diamond CVD have three unique features (i) high substrate temperature typically at 700-1200 °C, (ii) high gas pressure P at 20-150Torr (lTorr= 133.3 Pa), and (iii) low methane (CH4) concentration of usually 1-5% with respect to the dilution gas, hydrogen (H2). A standard temperature for diamond growth, monitored by an optical pyrometer without emissivity correction, is 800 °C. It is, however, considered that the surface temperature of the specimen exposed to the plasma is actually higher. Under these conditions, at least more than 95% of the deposited film can be crystalline diamond,... [Pg.9]

Fig. 3 His-TAT-HA-CARP-1 (1-198) protein inhibits growth of human breast cancer cell-derived tumor xenografts in SCID mice. The wild-type breast cancer cells were xenografted subcutaneously in each flank. After the palpable tumors developed, the proteins were injected intratumorally at a dose of 25 pg/tumor/day for 5 consecutive days and tumor growth monitored for additional 20 days. Histogram columns represent mean tumor weight and the standard deviation is indicated by bars. P = 0.0015 P = 0.003 compared with the corresponding His-TAT-HA-eGFP-treated tumors (adapted from Zhang et al. [251])...
