Group 13 amides indium

Highly substituted amides (29) have been prepared in a three-component reaction of an imine, an acid chloride, and trialkylindium.79 Proceeding under mild conditions and high metal efficiency, the alkyl group on indium can also be aryl, heteroaryl, or vinyl.

The chemistry of alkyl- and arylaluminum, gallium, indium, and thallium amides has been investigated much more than the comparable chemistry of Group II elements (9,13-18). Alkylaluminum amides especially have a very rich and diverse structural chemistry (9,13-15). When a trialkylalane reacts with primary or secondary amines, the amides 3,3, and 4 are formed in addition to a simple adduct [Eqs. (3) and (4)]. 

While tetrahedral 4-coordinate Lewis base adducts MX3L are the most common, particularly for A1 and Ga, 5- and 6-coordinate adducts are also known, mainly for the heavier members of the group. Indium trichloride forms tbp complexes InCyU (L = THF, PPh3) and octahedral /ac-InCl3I (L = THF, Me3PO, dimethylform-amide, etc.).14... 

Carbon and oxygen impurities are below 1 atom %. Based on the gases that are eliminated from this precursor, it is clear that the nitrogen source in the deposition is the azide group. It is found that the best films are formed under vacuum without additional sources of nitrogen (such as N2 and NH3). Homoleptic indium amides can be used when volatilized in the presence of NH3 . ...
