Now consider the ground state electronic configurations of isolated atoms of all the elements (Table 1.3). These are experimental data, and are nearly always obtained by analysing atomic spectra. Most atomic spectra are too complex for discussion here and we take their interpretation on trust. 

The ground state electronic configuration of element 105 is most likely [Rn]5f 6d 7s. As in the case of element 104, a large part of the theoretical work for element 105 has been directed towards the interpretation of experimental data. The few experimental results available indicate that the chemistry of element 105 is more closely related to that Nb than Jjj 72-74,76,80...
