Grenades, Potassium Chlorate

There s nothing like a case of reliable, devastating grenades to throw at marauders. I favor the potato masher type over the pineapple model. They throw farther, at least for me. 

Black powder as a filler is pretty good and pistol powder is great but expensive. Potassium chlorate is fantastic and has great shattering power. It really sends the shrapnel out at an awful speed. It is also relatively easy to get. 

Potassium chlorate is unpredictable with fuses. It will go off spontaneously when mixed dry with certain chemieds such as red phosphorous, sulphur, black antimony sulphide, etc. But for controlled situations, most prefer to set it off with blasting caps, since it also detonates by concussion. 

It you have access to blasting caps, you can also get dynamite. Dynamite lends itself well to potato masher grenades. So if you can get dynamite, you re all set. Just put a stick of dynamite in a pipe, push in a blasting cap with a length of safety fuse and you re all set. 

But if you don t have blasting caps or dynamite you can make do quite well with potassium chlorate. You just need something guaranteed to set it off.

Impact grenade ( Potassium Chlorate (KCIO3) + Sulphur (S) ) (17-12-95)... 

The first three types of Cheddites were used in France for filling hand grenades and shells with a low muzzle velocity and for manufacturing demolition charges during World War I. When there was a shortage of nitro compounds in France, Cheddite type O No. 6B was employed as a substitute for the first two. This was also manufactured with sodium chlorate instead of potassium chlorate (Explosif S). 

When the proper length fuse Is determined cut both ends on a diagonal for maximum exposure of the black powder center. This insures both good Ignition from the primer and a nice fat spark to detonate the explosive filler. Coat the fuse except the ends, with epoxy and press into place Inside of the fuse assembly. If the grenade body will be filled with black or smokeless powder or match heads, (potassium chlorate) the spark from the Fuse itself will be sufficient to detonate the filler. If the entire body... 

To make a thermite grenade which will ignite by potassium chlorate and sugar or flare igniter, you start with aluminum tubing inches in diameter, or more, and five inches long.
