Great Marsh, Delaware, sulfur

Luther et al. (1985) determined thiosulfate concentrations of 400-1,300 pM and sulfite contents of 6.8-7.9 pM from subtidal sediments off the coast of Massachusetts, U8A. Later work (Luther et al., 2001) also confirmed the presence of polysulfides in a microbial mat from Great Marsh, Delaware, and subtidal sediments from Rehoboth Bay, Delaware at concentrations of up to 40 pM. Elemental sulfur (8g) dominated near the surface of both environments, polysulfide, was detected at intermediate depth (6.5 cm in the case of the subtidal sediments), and only H28 was present at greater depth. [Pg.3728]

Bouleoue, j., C. j. Lord, III, andT. M. Church. 1982. Sulfur speciation and associated trace metals (Fe. Cu) in the pore waters of Great Marsh, Delaware. Geochim. Cosmochim. Acta 46 453-64. [Pg.565]

Sulfur speciation In the porewaters of two salt marshes (Great Marsh, Delaware and Great Slppewlssett, Cape Cod, Massachusetts) are presented. A major finding Is that the porewaters from Great Slppewlssett salt marsh are dominated by Inorganic sulfur species throughout the depth profile. [Pg.340]

Organic sulfur species. Tables IV and V show results for the field samplings from Great Marsh, Delaware and Great Slppewlssett Marsh, Cape Cod, Massachusetts respectively. The major discovery is the presence of thiols in the surface to 12 cm zone of the Delaware marsh. In addition, organic disulfides are present from 0-6 cm. [Pg.350]

Table IV. Dissolved sulfur speciation in Great Marsh, Delaware, June 1984... Table IV. Dissolved sulfur speciation in Great Marsh, Delaware, June 1984...
Inorganic sulfur species. Other differences in major sulfur species are evident between the two systems as shown in Tables IV and V. Thiosulfate concentrations in Great Sippewissett were higher by 5 to 100 times than those in Great Harsh, Delaware at similar depths. Polysulfide S(O) sulfur concentrations in Great Marsh, Delaware were higher than those in Great Sippewissett. [Pg.352]
