Great irish famine

Q/n theyears 1845-1850, a fungal infection of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L) with Phytophtora infestans was rife in Ireland this led to a starvation, known as the Great Irish Famine", as a result of which, more than a million people died and two million emigrated.
