Go for the Goals

The beautiful thing about the study of language arts is that it touches all subjects literature, history, current events, science, information technology, math, the social sciences, the arts, and so on. Keep in mind then, while considering the language arts standards defined in this chapter, that you and your homeschooler have the freedom to draw upon all subjects and many modes of study. 

By the way, if the idea of standards bothers you, think of the standards presented here as goals for your middle schooler s mastery of reading, writing, listening, and speaking—and Go for the Goals
