Gnamptogenys striatula

Gnamptogenys striatula W-DG Trail following 4-Methylgeranyl octanoate 131,decanoate 132, dodecanoate 133 [174]... [Pg.167]

Aggression is not always involved in reproductive regulation. In some species, like Gnamptogenys striatula, reproductive status is determined by mating. Nevertheless,... [Pg.259]

H. saltator produces less pronounced qualitative differences. Other ponerine ants that are generally characterized by smaller colony sizes and limited queen-worker dimorphism (Peeters, 1993) only show quantitative differences in their cuticular hydrocarbon profiles between reproductives and non-reproductives. Gamergates in Gnamptogenys striatula differ from non-reproductive workers by having increased relative amounts of ten cuticular... [Pg.270]

The first homomonoterpene and bishomomonoterpene have recently been discovered. A mixture of decanoate and dodecanoate of the third form of homogeranyl pyrophosphate shown in Figure 6.22, AS,2E)-3,4,7-trimethyl-2,6-octadienol (Figure 6.26) have been found to be the trail pheromone of the ponerine ant Gnamptogenys striatula. The dodecanoate of the bishomomonoterpene (45, 2 ,6 )-3,4,7-trimethyl-2,6-nonadienol was also present but only marginally active in the pheromone. [Pg.101]
