Glycoproteins soluble

Permethylated oligosaccharides can be efficiently separated by RPLC, including a and P anomers [41]. This enables characterization of the oligosaccharides of a recombinant glycoprotein soluble CD4 with varying sialic acid content. [Pg.557]

Inhibin and Activin. Inhibin, a water-soluble, gonadal factor known for over 50 years to inhibit pituitary function, has been isolated and identified (127—130). Inhibin is a glycoprotein hormone that preferentially inhibits the secretion of FSH. It consists of an a-chain subunit, mol wt 14,000, linked by disulfide bonds to a P-chain subunit, mol wt 18,000. There exist two forms of the P-chain subunit, P-A and P-B. The smaller subunit combines with either the P-A or P-B subunit to form inhibin-A or inhibin-B, respectively. [Pg.123]

Fibrinogen (factor I, 340 kDa see Figures 51-1 and 51-4 and Tables 51-1 and 51-2) is a soluble plasma glycoprotein that consists of three nonidentical pairs of polypeptide chains (Aa,Bpy)2 covalently linked by disulfide bonds. The B(3 and y chains contain asparagine-linked complex oligosaccharides. All three... [Pg.601]

Cytokines. Nonspecific water-soluble glycoproteins with a short half-life produced and secreted abruptly by white blood cells in response to an external stimulus, and which act as chemical messengers between cells. [Pg.250]

The glycoproteins and water-soluble polysaccharides contain mainly galactan with some araban.95... [Pg.140]
