Glycoprotein N-glycan

Tretter, V., Altmann, F., Kubelka, V., Marz, L., Becker, W.M. Fucose alpha 1,3-linked to the core region of glycoprotein N-glycans creates an important epitope for IgE from honeybee venom allergic individuals. Int. Arch. Allergy Immunol., 1993, 102, 259-266. [Pg.2153]

Hereditary erythroblastic multinuclearity witha positive acidified serum lysis test (congenital dyserythropoietic anemia type II). This is a relatively mild form of anemia. It reflects at least in part the presence in the red cell membranes of various glycoproteins with abnormal N-glycan chains, which contribute to the susceptibility to lysis. [Pg.530]

Kimura et al. [64] purified and characterized a 30 kDa Ginkgo glycoprotein from ginkgo seeds, using an antiserum against jJl 2 xylose-containing N-glycans. [Pg.172]

Schachter H (1995) Biosynthesis 2c Glycosyltransferases involved in the synthesis of N-glycan antennae. In Montreuil J, Vliegenthart JFG, Schachter H (eds) (1995) New Comprehensive Biochemistry Vol 29a, Glycoproteins. Elsevier, Amsterdam, p 153... [Pg.137]

Mori, E., Hedrick, J.L., Wardrip, N.J., Mori, T. and Takasaki, S. (1998) Occurrence of reducing terminal N-acetylglucosamine 3-sulfate and fucosylated outer chains in acidic N-glycans of porcine zona pellucida glycoproteins. Glycoconj J, 15,447-456. [Pg.320]

A further consideration is the position of the sequon in relation to the primary structure of the protein. Statistical analysis of a large number of glycoproteins has indicated that the frequency of non-glycosylated sequons increases toward the C-terminus (Gavel and von Heijne, 1990). The critical distance appears to be 60 amino acid residues from the C-terminus when reduced glycan occupation occurs. This distance corresponds to the distance between the ribosome P-site and the active site of the OST and it has been hypothesized that the protein chain is not available for N-glycan attachment once it is released from the ribosome. However, this phenomenon of poor glycosylation efficiency toward the C-terminus does not appear to be universal for all proteins (Walmsley and Hooper, 2003). [Pg.133]

In 1998, Morten Meldal and coworkers demonstrated the semisynthesis of Asn derivatives of complex-type bi- and triantennary asialo N-glycans [58], After isolation of these oligosaccharides from the glycoproteins fetuin and ribonuclease (RNase) B by hydrazinolysis, the glycans were converted to Fmoc-Asn(oligosaccharide)-OH derivatives with an acetylated sugar part. In 2003, the Yasuhiro Kajihara group... [Pg.269]
