Hereditary erythroblastic multinuclearity

Hereditary erythroblastic multinuclearity witha positive acidified serum lysis test (congenital dyserythropoietic anemia type II). This is a relatively mild form of anemia. It reflects at least in part the presence in the red cell membranes of various glycoproteins with abnormal N-glycan chains, which contribute to the susceptibility to lysis.

Congenital dyserythropoietic anemia (CDA) is a group of inherited disorders characterized by an ineffective erythropoiesis, bone marrow erythroid multinuclearity, and secondary tissue siderosis. In 1968, Heimpel and Wendt classified CDA into three types [18]. CDA type II is the most common CDA, and is also called HEMPAS, since Crookston characterized this disease as Hereditary Erythroblastic Multinuclearity with Positive Acidified Serum lysis test [19].
