Glucose-Responsive Systems Based on ConA

3 Glucose-Responsive Systems Based on Boronic Acid-Diol Complexation [Pg.30]

The block copolymers of hydrophiHc DMA and responsive boronic acid monomers were hydrophiHc and fuUy soluble above the pK of the boronic acid units. However, at pH pJC, the block copolymers self-assembled to form polymeric micelles. The boronic acid functionaHty within the hydrophobic core caused these micelles to dissociate with increasing pH or glucose concentration. Replacing the hydrophilic poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) (PDMA) block with temperature-responsive PNIPAM [54] led to triply responsive block copolymers that responded to changes in pH, glucose concentration, and temperature [53]. Depending on the [Pg.31]
