Acute Human Toxicant Chemical that causes harm to humans after short-term exposures. Harm can occur when chemical is inhaled, swallowed, or comes in contact with skin or eye. [Pg.46]

Bioaccumulation An increase in concentration of a pollutant from the environment to the first organism in a food chain based on all sources of input. [Pg.46]

Bioconcentration The specific process by which the concentration of a chemical in an organism becomes higherthan its concentration in the air or water around the organism [Pg.46]
