Glass collet

Glass collet The drive wheel that pulls glass fibers from the bushing/spinneret a forming tube is placed on the collet and a package of strand is wound upon the tube. [Pg.41]

The studies were carried out in air-conditioned areas from which hazards of accidental injury had been eliminated as thoroughly as possible (e.g., glass panels in doors were replaced with wood, electric outlets and cables shielded, and sharp comers padded). Beds and collet, messing and recreational facilities were provided within the research areas. The research was conducted under surveillance of qualified physicians, who administered all injections or oral doses of the test substances. When volunteers were exposed to inhalation of vapors or aerosols, the concentrations of these substances in the air to be breached by the subjects were established by appropriate personnel. Breaching of the contaminated air by the volunteers was observed and supervised by physicians. After an exposure to an agent, the volunteers were observed continuously for 8-24 h, and then Intermlctently for up CO 14 d. In a few cases, followup studies were made 6 mo or more after the exposure. [Pg.136]

Collet ka-lot [MF, dim. of col collar, fr. L collum neck] (1528) n. Rigid lateral contained for the mold-forming manual a dam, a restriction box the drive wheel that pulls glass fibers from the bushing [A forming tube is placed on the collet and a package of strand (forming cake) is wound up on the tube). [Pg.204]

Inert gas flows through the torch body and through holes in the collet holder to the arc end of the torch. A cup or nozzle is fitted over the arc end of the torch to direct inert gas over the electrode and the weld pool. The nozzles normally screw onto the torch and are made of a hard, heat-resistant ceramic. Some are made of high-temperature glass such as cor and are pressed on over a compressible plastic taper. Some nozzles can be fitted with an insert washer made up of several layers of fine-wire screen sometimes called a gas lens. This produces a lamellar rather than turbulent flow of inert gas to increase the efficiency of shielding. [Pg.490]
