GIANT TYRE

The part of the pneumatic tyre assembly which holds the inflation air under pressure. It is protected by the outer cover or tyre and, in giant sizes, protected from rim damage by the flap . Inner tubes are primarily made of butyl rubber. Some cycle tubes still use NR. See Tubeless. Inorganic... 

Brominated butyl rubbers are of interest for truck tyre inner tubes because of their heat resistance, in giant type inner tubes because they may be blended with natural rubber to give a useful combination of properties, and for a variety of other uses. 

INNER TUBE—GIANT SIZE, OFF-THE-ROAD TYRE... 

Giant inner tubes for off-the-road tyres usually require 25 phr to 50 phr of natural rubber in the compound to provide the high level of green strength needed during their manufacture. Filler, oil and curing system are adjusted, as indicated in Table 22, to minimise reductions in impermeability and heat resistance.
