Geometric approximation

This disagreement between theory and practice must therefore partly be due to the non-Newtonian shear-thinning viscosity. This conclusion is supported by the work of Kiparissides and Vlacopoulos (35), who showed that for a Power Law model fluid, lower n values reduce the disagreement between theory and experiments, as illustrated in Fig. 6.27. They used the FEM for computing the pressure profile, which eliminates the geometrical approximations needed in the Gaskell model. [Pg.271]

In between Koopmans and ASCF calculations, a method was developed termed the transition operator method [12], in which the Fock operator involved in the calculation of the electronic structure of the ionized species is modified so as to adjust an occupation of 1/2 in the ionized core level. Fairly good results were obtained with this approach, as well as with improved versions involving third-order perturbation corrections to the transition operator method, followed by extrapolation using a geometric approximation [13]. [Pg.42]

The elements of the metric matrix S and the dynamical matrix F that occur in the geometric approximation axe readily calculated from the basic anticommutation relations (Eq. (3.49)) and the hamiltonian as given by Eqs. (4.3) and (4.4). The results are... [Pg.26]

This means that the electron propagator in the geometric approximation can be given as... [Pg.28]

In this manner, an iterative process can be followed to determine the electron propagator self-consistently in the geometric approximation. This approach represents a slight generalization of the ordinary SCF method for the calculation of molecular spin orbitals and orbital energies. [Pg.29]

For real orbitals and geminal coefficients gi, the excitation propagator P E) is written in the geometric approximations as before, but now with the augmented set of field operators. Considering the block... [Pg.70]

Improved descriptions of single-electron processes require treatments beyond the geometric approximation given by the Haxtree-Fock electron propagator in Eq. (4.25). More elaborate approximations of the equation of motion (9.1)... [Pg.123]

The second-order contribution to the self-energy is the lowest order nonvanishing correction to the electron binding energies as given by the orbital energies in the geometric approximation. In order to evaluate this correction term,... [Pg.126]

In the following, the convention is used that a and b refer to occupied and p and q refer to unoccupied spin orbitals. The inverse of the propagator in the geometric approximation can then be expressed as... [Pg.201]

Beta-plane Geometric approximation in which the only effect of the earth s sphericity in an otherwise cartesian model is a linear variation of the Coriolis parameter with latitude. [Pg.221]

The proposed method extends the apphcabihty of the Brownian dynamics for molecules of arbitrary complexity by eliminating the current shortcomings of crude methods, based on geometric approximation and the complexity of calculating the friction coefficients. To determine the electron density of the... [Pg.116]
