Generator mode

A motor can fall in a generator mode when the machine is energized and is run beyond its synchronous speed, such as when driving a load, travelling down hill or when its speed is reduced to perform a specific duty. The same conditions will appear when a running machine is reversed, whether it is an a.c. or a d.c. machine.

There are 4-quadrant and 2-quadrant converters. 4-quadrant converters have two controlled rectifier bridges, one of which serves to operate the drive mode while the other operates the generating mode. Since no great moments of inertia arise in extruder operation, there are no great moments of inertia that would cause regenerative braking, only 2-quadrant converters... 

The properties of a low expansion ratio foam are controlled mainly by changing the rate of the kinetic processes running in it. To decelerate the hydrodynamic processes in order to preserve its structure for a longer time (for instance, in the formation of polymer or frozen foams), the following measures can be recommended i) to use a foam generation mode that allows producing a foam of a uniform expansion ratio such are the stream type generators and some mechanical devices that mix the solutions ii) to produce a foam of maximum dispersity...

Tillman (1985). The generation mode is fora back-pressure turbine. The minimum heat rate is based on large systems and biomass fuel containing 15 wt % moisture. The maximum heat rate is based on small systems and biomass fuel containing 50 wt % moisture.

The generation of electrolytic hydrogen is achieved by selecting an MHR system in the electricity generation mode [72]. The two major safety aspects, higher operating temperatures and tritium permeation to the product gas, were evaluated and shown not to be a serious concern for the nuclear process heat plant [63].
