Fluorescence typically occurs from aromatic molecules [96] and a higher brightness and signal-to-noise ratio can be reached in the detection of fluorescence in the visible region (especially for imaging purpose, see below). Hence polymers as most of the biological samples are better detected after labeling with fluorescent probes.
