A variety of natural and synthetic materials are used throughout fuel and lubricant systems. Examples include transfer lines, hoses, fan blades, impellers, small gears, housings, and a host of supporting framework. Some plastics can be degraded by fuels, lubricants, additives, and various petroleum-based compounds. The most resistant material is polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Ryton and Viton are less resistant, but are still quite stable in fuel and lubricant systems. Characteristics of PTFE and Ryton are shown below ... [Pg.229]

Before test-running the separator fill lubricating oil into the gear housing -see page 180-1. [Pg.13]

Pour oil into the worm gear housing through the hole for the screw plug until the oil level is somewhat above the middle of the oil gauge glass. Screw in... [Pg.22]

From time to time screw out the drain screw some turns and draw an oil sample from the worm gear housing. If the oil turns out to be heavily contaminated drain it off and pour in fresh oil. The sample should be drawn as soon as the separator has stopped running. [Pg.22]

Clean. the gear housing carefully. See that the packing for the drain screw has no defects. [Pg.22]

Drain the oil from the gear housing. Remove the worm wheel guard and protecting cover EDI. [Pg.44]

Before assembling, clean the parts of the worm wheel shaft with kerosene and wipe the gear housing. Check the ball bearings for defects. Clean and Lubricate carefully before refitting. [Pg.45]

Fasten the protecting cover of the worm gear housing. [Pg.46]

As shown below, polyether ether ketone has excellent electrical properties, rendering it suitable for critical applications such as electrical plugs and electrical gear housings and printed circuit board manufacturers. [Pg.136]

The requirements applicable to the seals of the girth gear housing are similar in principle to those already stated for the trunnion bearing seals. Here, too, it is important to prevent dust getting into the housing. [Pg.543]

Antirust additives are needed to minimize rust formation rising from water in the gear housing. [Pg.342]
